FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short, honest answers. If yours isn't here, the quickest route is a call or the 60-second application.
What does the 24 in Business Finance 24 mean?
It's our aim: to have your business funded within 24 hours of your first application. It isn't a guarantee. Complete applications with clear security often make it; deals needing a full valuation, a bank's consent or extra paperwork can take a few days, and we'll tell you that upfront.
Does applying affect my credit score?
No. Your first enquiry carries no credit check. A check only happens after you've seen an option and decided to go ahead.
How much can my business borrow?
Unsecured, cash flow and line-of-credit options typically range from $5,000 to $500,000, depending on turnover and bank statements. With residential or commercial property as security, business loans run from $20,000 to $5,000,000.
Do I need property to get funded fast?
Not always. Smaller unsecured amounts can be the quickest of all because there's no property to check. Property opens up larger amounts and is often the route when credit history is patchy.
Will you send my details to lots of lenders?
No. We don't sell or spray enquiries. One specialist works out which lender suits and speaks with you before anything is submitted.
What documents do I need?
For most unsecured deals: photo ID and six months of business bank statements. Property loans add the property details, current mortgage statements and a lawyer's contact. Larger or low-doc deals may need recent financials or an accountant's letter. Our documents checklist sets it out.
Can I get a business loan with bad credit in New Zealand?
Often, yes. Past defaults and credit problems are considered case by case. Explaining what happened, and showing the business is trading well now, matters more than a single score.
Can I borrow to pay IRD?
Yes, IRD debt is considered case by case. Funding can clear GST, PAYE or income tax arrears in one payment. It's worth comparing with an Inland Revenue instalment arrangement before deciding.
Do you publish interest rates?
No. Every business loan is priced on the individual situation — security, amount, term, trading history and credit. You'll see the full cost in dollars before you sign anything.
I'm self-employed. Can I apply?
Yes. Sole traders, contractors, partnerships, trusts and companies can all apply, as long as the funds are for business purposes.
How long do I need to have been trading?
There's no single rule. Unsecured lenders generally want an established trading record shown in bank statements; property-secured lending can suit newer businesses because the property carries more of the weight.
Can you fund over a weekend or public holiday?
We can take your application and prepare the deal, but settlement needs banks, lawyers and Landonline to be operating. Weekends and public holidays such as Matariki or Waitangi Day pause the clock on that last step.
What can the money be used for?
Any genuine business purpose: wages, stock, supplier deposits, tax bills, equipment, vehicles, a settlement shortfall, bridging between deals or starting a new contract. It can't be used for personal or household purposes.
Is there a cost to apply?
There's no charge to enquire. Any lender fees, legal costs and valuation costs are set out in dollars in your offer before you commit.
Can I repay early?
Many short-term and property-secured facilities allow early repayment; some have a minimum interest period or a break fee. Check this in the offer, especially if you plan to refinance to a bank.
