    How the Funding Clock works

Most business finance in New Zealand isn't slow because lenders are slow. It's slow because of the gaps: a statement that's missing two months, a property held in a trust nobody mentioned, a bank that has to consent to a second mortgage, a valuer booked for next Thursday. The Funding Clock looks at the handful of things that decide whether those gaps exist in your case, and turns them into a timeline.

It starts from our aim — funded within 24 hours of your first application — and then adds or removes time for each factor. Small unsecured amounts with complete bank statements can move fastest, and same-day funding is possible for some of them. Property-secured loans from $20k to $250k can also be possible the same day when the title is clean and a lawyer is ready, and larger property deals up to $5m are possible within 24–48 hours. Anything that needs a full valuation, a bank's sign-off or a closer look at credit history adds time, and the clock shows you roughly how much.

    What the result means

    • Same day possible: a small, simple deal with everything ready. Apply early in the day.
    • Within 24 hours is realistic: our standard aim. Have your checklist complete and keep your phone close.
    • Allow 2–3 days: usually a valuation, larger amount, existing-mortgage consent or a credit history that needs explaining.
    • Allow about a week: several slower factors together, or a business that's very new without property behind it. Still worth a conversation — there's often a quicker route.

How to pull the time back

Each unticked item in your checklist is time you can claw back before you apply. Download six months of business bank statements as PDFs straight from your internet banking. Find your NZBN on the NZBN register or your company number on the Companies Office register. If property is involved, dig out the latest mortgage statement and tell your lawyer a loan document may arrive within a day. And on the form itself, be precise: the actual amount, the real purpose, and any IRD arrears. That's what lets a specialist match you to the right lender on the first attempt.

When you're ready, apply in about 60 seconds. No credit check to enquire, no spraying your details around, and a real person on the phone. If you have property, the property equity estimator shows how much it could support, and our guide to what slows funding down covers the common hold-ups in detail.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the Funding Clock an offer or approval?

No. It's a planning estimate built from the things that most often decide how quickly a New Zealand business loan settles. A lending specialist confirms the real timeline once they've seen your details.

Why does having property make some deals slower and others faster?

Property opens up larger amounts and helps when credit is patchy, but it adds steps: a title search, a value check and a lawyer to register the security. Small unsecured amounts skip those steps, which is why they can be the quickest of all.

Why does an existing mortgage add time?

A second mortgage usually sits behind your bank's first mortgage. Some banks need to consent or acknowledge the new loan, and their timetable isn't ours. A caveat-style loan can sometimes avoid that wait.

Does the tool ask about interest rates?

No. We don't publish rates because every loan is priced on its own circumstances. The tool focuses on time, fit and preparation; you'll see the full cost in dollars in any offer.

What's the quickest single thing I can do?

Get six months of business bank statements and photo ID ready before you apply. Missing statements cause more delay than anything else on unsecured deals.
