How it works
How it works, hour by hour
Five stages between your application and money in the account — and what you can do to keep each one quick.
Fast business finance is mostly about order. When the right questions come first and the right lender is chosen at the start, the rest follows quickly. Here is the timeline we aim for on a complete application. Real deals vary, and we'll tell you where yours sits.
- 1
Hour 0 — Apply (about 60 seconds)
Amount, purpose, security, time trading and a few quick questions. No credit check at this stage.
- 2
Hours 1–3 — A specialist calls
We confirm the details, explain the product that fits, and send a short, specific documents list.
- 3
Hours 3–12 — Documents and checks
You upload ID and bank statements. For property loans, the title is searched and the value confirmed — sometimes by desktop assessment, sometimes by a valuer.
- 4
Hours 12–20 — Approval and offer
The lender approves, the offer is issued, and you sign. If you agree to proceed, this is when the credit check happens.
- 5
Hours 20–24 — Settlement and funds
Lawyers complete any mortgage or caveat registration, and the funds are paid to your account or straight to whoever needs paying.
What you can do to keep it fast
- Answer the form accurately. The real amount and purpose, your true trading history, any property and any IRD arrears.
- Have your documents ready. Photo ID and six months of business bank statements cover most unsecured deals. See our documents checklist.
- Pick up the phone. Our first call often comes from a number you won't recognise.
- Brief your lawyer early for any property-secured loan, so they can sign off as soon as documents arrive.
Common questions
Is 24 hours guaranteed?
No. It's the aim we work to on complete applications, and many deals can meet it. Full valuations, consent from an existing bank, complex company structures or missing documents can push it out — we'll flag any of these on the first call.
When does the credit check happen?
Only once you've seen an option, understood it and told us you want to go ahead. The first enquiry has no credit check.
What slows things down most?
Missing or partial bank statements, an amount or purpose that changes midway, property owned by a different entity than expected, and IRD arrears that weren't mentioned at the start.
Can I apply after hours?
Yes. Applications come in around the clock and are picked up from the start of the next working day. Settlement itself needs banks and lawyers to be open, so weekends and public holidays pause that part.
